Paula Dawson is a famous Sydney-based hologram artist (and curator). The panorama shows her this morning with a new installation (self-portrait holograms) in an innercity workshop space.

The State government has decided to chop down a row of trees alongside the Domain - claiming that they are moribund and prone to drop limbs on the public. Local Green politicians say it is a ploy to get more rentable space for commercial uses of the Domain. The panorama from yesterday morning shows a gathering of concerned local artists. Here is a group shot. The Domain trees, especially Moreton Bay figs like this, have long been a popular motif for Sydney artists eg. this Brett Whitely drawing.

Easter weekend is the busiest period at the Show and I went along again on Saturday. The panorama shows the District Exhibits of farm produce -- and the crowds gawking at them. The District Exhibits are a gigantic competitive piece of group folk art - vegetable art - and the aesthetic quality varies from year to year -- this year's displays were better than average I thought (the drought is over so there is lots of good produce available so that might have given the designers more scope than last year).

The Sydney Royal Easter Show started yesterday -- and I went along last night and did this panorama in the Cattle Pavilion. The funnel-shaped objects hanging from the roof are part of the ventilation system.
