Another panorama I shot last week at South Australian Museum -- this one shows the tropical section of the Mammal Gallery. It was quite an experience to be in this large glass case with all these taxidermed animals after dark in the Museum. "Mammals from many parts of the world are exhibited, grouped by the region from which they come. Many of the specimens once lived at the Zoo in Adelaide." Some of these specimens are now exceedingly rare -- the tapir just visible at the back of the elephant is in fact an extinct species. There was an interesting article recently in the New York Times on recent renewed appreciation of the multiple significances of these kinds of displays.
