Here - from last Thursday night a panorama from outside the Museum of Contempary Art building at Circular Quay. Moored at the Overseas Passenger Teminal can be seen a cruise ship. There seem to lots of cruise ships visiting Sydney at the moment. Where the panorama was taken used to be the shoreline in the early 19th century. It was in a building near here (since demolished) that early ship arrivals went through Immigration (or whatever it was called then) and on exiting got their first land view of Australia (looking up George St). I did another version of this panorama -- with stars -- using the sky generator program Stellarium. These are the actual stars at the time ... though one would have to find a dark corner to see as many as this at this locale.
